English Grammer: Present Continuous tense

 

Present Continuous tense:



Affirmative Sentences

Formula:

Subject + (am/is/are) + verb(ing) + Rest of the sentence



Examples:



I am eating breakfast.

She is studying for her exams.

They are playing soccer.

 

Fill-in-the-blank sentences in the present continuous affirmative tense, with the verbs provided in brackets:



1. She __________ a letter to her friend. (write)

2. They __________ in the park. (play)

3. I __________ a new language. (learn)

4. He __________ his homework now. (do)

Negative Sentences



Formula:

Interrogative Sentences



Formula:

(Am/Is/Are) + subject + verb(ing) + Rest of the sentence ?



Examples:

Are they playing soccer?



With who, what, where, when, why, how:


Formula:



( Who/ what/ where/ when/ why/ how ) + (am/is/are) + subject + verb(ing) + Rest of the sentence ?



Examples:



What am I eating?

Why is she studying for her exams?

Where are they playing soccer?
