Write a letter to the editor of an English daily drawing the attention of the concern authorities to the problem faced by the people of your area due to the scarcity of drinking water.
To,
The Editor,

Subject: Drawing attention to the acute scarcity of drinking water in our locality.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the urgent attention of the concerned authorities, especially the Jal Board, to the severe problem of water scarcity faced by the residents of our area.
For the past several weeks, the supply of drinking water has been extremely irregular and insufficient. As a result, the people of this locality are struggling to meet their most basic daily needs. The situation has become so critical that residents are often forced to wait for hours at public taps or rely on expensive private water tankers.
The primary issues we are facing include:
Irregular Supply: Water is supplied only once every few days, and even then, the pressure is too low to fill storage tanks.
Contamination Risk: Due to leaks in old pipelines, the little water that does arrive is often murky and unfit for consumption, posing a risk of water-borne diseases.
Impact on Students: In educational environments like my own Gyaan Kunja Tuition Centre, the lack of clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities is causing significant distress to students.
Financial Burden: Many low-income families are being pushed into financial hardship as they are compelled to purchase drinking water daily.
Despite numerous verbal and written complaints submitted to the local department office, no concrete steps have been taken to restore a regular supply or repair the damaged infrastructure. It is high time the authorities treat this as a priority and find a permanent solution to this crisis.
I, therefore, request the government to intervene and ensure that the 'Jal Jeevan' initiatives are effectively implemented in our area so that every household receives a steady supply of clean drinking water.
Yours faithfully,
Pinky Teron
Gyaan Kunja Tuition Centre
Guwahati, Assam.
