Subject: Drawing attention to the erratic power supply during study hours.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to voice the grievances of the residents of our locality regarding the frequent and erratic power supply that has been causing immense hardship, particularly to the student community.
For the past few weeks, our area has been experiencing unpredictable power cuts, often lasting for several hours at a stretch. What is most distressing is that these outages consistently occur during the evening hours, which are the crucial study hours for students. As the academic session is in full swing and exams are approaching, these frequent blackouts are severely hampering our preparations and mental focus.
While we understand that technical maintenance might be necessary, the lack of a fixed schedule and the frequency of these "load-shedding" sessions make it impossible to plan our daily routines. Moreover, the sudden fluctuations in voltage also pose a risk to electronic appliances and computers, which are essential for our modern learning and projects.
Despite several verbal complaints to the local electricity sub-station, no permanent solution has been provided. We are often told it is due to "technical snags," but the recurrence of the issue suggests a deeper systemic problem in the local power grid.
I, therefore, request the concerned authorities of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to look into this matter urgently. We hope for a more stabilized power supply or, at the very least, a published schedule for power cuts so that we can manage our studies effectively.
Yours faithfully,
Pinky Teron
