The prices of basic necessities—including pulses, edible oils, and seasonal vegetables—have seen a sharp increase in recent months. This trend is causing severe distress to low and middle-income families who are finding it nearly impossible to balance their monthly budgets. For many, even a nutritious meal has now become a luxury.

Several factors seem to be contributing to this crisis:

    Market Hoarding: Artificial scarcity created by unscrupulous traders to drive up prices.

    Transportation Costs: The rising cost of fuel, which directly impacts the final price of goods brought into the city.

    Lack of Price Control: The absence of strict monitoring by the food and civil supplies department to check overcharging in local markets.

The common people are already struggling with various economic challenges, and this uncontrolled inflation is pushing them toward a state of desperation. It is high time the authorities intervened to stabilize the market and ensure that essential items are available at fair prices.

I earnestly request the government to conduct regular market raids to check hoarding and to strengthen the public distribution system. A swift and firm response is needed to protect the citizens from further financial hardship.
