Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the immediate attention of the concerned authorities toward the alarming rise in road accidents in our locality, primarily caused by the dilapidated condition of the roads.

The stretch of road in our area has transformed into a hazardous path filled with deep craters and uneven surfaces. These conditions have become a death trap for commuters, especially during the night and the rainy season. The lack of proper maintenance has led to a series of unfortunate incidents recently.

The primary concerns resulting from this neglect include:

    Frequent Accidents: Two-wheelers and small vehicles often lose balance while navigating deep potholes, leading to serious injuries.

    Risk to Pedestrians: Pedestrians, including school children and the elderly, find it nearly impossible to cross or walk along the roads safely.

    Damage to Vehicles: The broken road surface causes constant mechanical damage to vehicles, placing a financial burden on the residents.

    Obstruction of Emergency Services: Ambulances and fire tenders face significant delays when trying to reach destinations in our locality due to the slow movement of traffic over the broken patches.

Despite several requests and reminders sent to the local municipal body, no repair work has been initiated. The authorities seem to be waiting for a major tragedy to occur before taking any action.

I earnestly request the PWD and the local administration to undertake the necessary repair and blacktopping of these roads without further delay to ensure the safety of the public and prevent any more loss of life.
